WATER FILTRATION

At Burke Family Plumbing, LLC we have many years of experience in replacing corroded pipes, valves and faucets from residential homes and commercial buildings. Along with the installation of a water softening system placed at the main entry valve of your home or business, a water filtration system is one of the best things you can do for your plumbing system, your appliances, to extend the life of your clothes, and even to be healthier to your body.  Have you had to replace your water heater, an iron, coffee maker or plumbing fixtures lately?

Montgomery County having an average of 11 grains hard water rating in our water supply. This is not the absolute worst but it is by no means considered sediment and bacteria-free water. The abrasive nature of the local water can be detrimental to ourselves and our property. There are many benefits to lowering the contamination level of your water.

Burke Family Plumbing likes to have a healthy family. Call us today and we will provide a comprehensive in-home consult on water filtration systems, sizing and ease of operations. Below is some information about the quality of water filtration systems we recommend.

It has been proven over and over for many years, good systems cost much less than bad decisions!

KDC Filtration
Water Filtration System

The KDC Filtration System was developed to be used in conjunction with a Water Softener or as an alternative stand alone Whole House Filtration System. The KDC uses a 4 stage filtration process to remove and reduce a large number of contaminates and Heavy Metals. It is also a De-Scaler and Anti-Bacterial Filter. Assuring clean filtered water.

KDC Filter Stage 1 : (Quartz Under Bed) •The quartz under bed material is a naturally occurring, river washed, glacial deposit product, with excellent chemical properties. high silica content and low soluble calcium, magnesium and iron. The uncrushed quartz has a high spherical shape which promotes an even distribution and high water volume. Helping to maintain a high quality of water purity in the filtration process.

Filter stage 2 : (Copper-Zink alloy Processed Medium) •This media is so unique it is protected by fifteen US patents. When used in water treatment, the media undergoes a chemical process known as redox. Redox is short for oxidation-reduction, which is a chemical reaction where electrons are transferred between molecules. •This process is 98% effective for removal of inorganic water-solubles, heavy metals such as copper, lead, mercury, and other heavy metals which are a concern to public health. •Harmful chlorine is removed by changing free chlorine into chloride ions. •In addition reducing lime scale problems, by changing waterborne calcium molecules that inhibit scale buildup. •The media is truly bacteriostatic. The electrolytic field created by the redox process is environmentally deadly to some microorganisms. By creating Hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxides which interfere with the ability of some other microorganisms to function.

Filter stages 3 and 4: ( Activated Carbon) •Activated Carbon (AC) works by attracting and holding certain chemicals as water passes through it. AC is a porous material: Therefore, it has an extremely high surface area for contaminate absorption. One pound of AC has the equivalent surface area of 150 acres. The smallest KDC system uses over 40 pounds, which is the equivalent surface area of 6000 acres. •The KDC Filtration System Uses Coconut Shell-High Activated Carbon and Bitumous Coal to produce a combination which will obtain the maximum efficiency of activated carbon in the absorption process, and allows the greatest possible surface area in the smallest practical volume.

•What contaminates do Activated Carbon reduce? The water Quality Association (WQA) Reports that AC will remove or reduce; Chlorine Organic Arsenic Complexes Organic Chromium Complexes Benzene Endrin Lindane Methoxychlor 1,2- Dichloroethane 1,1 -Dichloroethane 1,1,1- Trichloroethane Total Trihalmethanes Toxaphene Trichloroethylene Para-dichlorobenzene Polychlorinated biphenyls Color 15 color units Foaming Agents (MBAS) Odor 3 thresh hold odor number Pesticides Industrial solvents Radon gas Aromatic hydrocabons (Water Quality Association, testing 1989)
